NEWSFLASH Jan 2012
We are delighted that we have been awarded Fairtrade status - the first primary school in Swindon!
Congratulations to the Fairtrade Steering group and to Mrs Stone.
At Bridlewood we believe that Fairtrade is an important matter. Fairtrade is important because it gives farmers in developing countries a better deal. We are trying to get Bridlewood pupils and parents to become more aware of Fairtrade and how it helps.
We have set up a Fairtrade school steering group and there is one person from each class from Year 1 upwards. The group is run by Mrs. Stone.
We have a Bridlewood Fairtrade policy.
The Bridlewood Fairtrade Steering Commitee
We buy Fairtrade goods for our school such as tea, coffee, cocoa and fruit juice.
We are learning more about Fairtrade in school and we have talked about Fairtrade in assembly.
We had a Fairtrade raffle at the summer fete, we had a Fairtrade poster competition, a Fairtrade non-uniform day to get goods for a Fairtrade hamper and we've had a Fairtrade cake stall.
Maple Class showed an assembly about Fairtrade to the rest of the school and some parents. (see picture to the right)
